Block.one and Nebulas settled with SEC

Block.one has recently settled with SEC for unregistered securities offering. Per the announcement, Block.one conducted an ICO from June, 2017 to June, 2018 which raised several billion dollars. SEC finds that Block.one did not register with the authority for selling the token, thus making it an illegal securities offering. Therefore, SEC orders Block.one to pay $24 million civil monetary penalty.

In other news, Nebulous , the company behind SIA network was ordered by the SEC to pay a fine for conducting illegal securities offering and stop future illegal activities. In 2014, Nebulous conducted a securities sale of what it called Siastock which allows the investors to receive percentage of revenue from transaction withing Sia network. However, Nebulous did not register the sale nor record the identities of the buyers. Therefore, SEC orders Nebulous to stop their illegal activities and pay a fine of 224,601.85 within 15 days.

According to Wall Street Journal, Visa, Mastercard and others are reconsidering joining Libra as the project is currently being scrutinized by US and EU governments.

Stellar wants to remove inflation

In the latest blog, Stellar proposed to remove inflation within the network. According to the blog, Stellar believes that inflation will cause several issues such as scalability, projects growth on Stellar and economic within the blockchain. Additionally, Stellar will not singly decide inflation removal but Stellar validators votes. The voting is expected to happen after the version 12 upgrade which will be released at 16:00 UTC, October 28th.
